Ammara Nasim received her B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, and her M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, with a specialization in signal and image processing. She is currently in the final stages of her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, with a research focus on artificial intelligence and computer vision.
From 2012 to 2013, she worked as a Research Assistant at NUST, contributing to research on 3D echocardiographic image fusion. In 2013, she joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Bahria University as a Laboratory Engineer. After completing her M.S., she rejoined the department as a Lecturer in 2017 and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2021.
She has authored 17 research publications, including journal and conference papers, and has presented her work at several international forums. Her earlier research addressed colorectal cancer detection using artificial intelligence. Her current work focuses on automated threat detection in baggage X-ray imagery, utilizing transformer-based architectures, self-supervised learning, and knowledge distillation.
Her research interests include artificial intelligence, computer vision, image analysis, and signal processing.
